On May 21, 2025, EDAPI held her capacity building workshop at the Oke-Ogun Conference Secretariat in Ago-Are, Oyo State where, over 150 church leaders of the Oke-Ogun Baptist Conference of the Nigerian Baptist Convention where equipped with the knowledge and advantage of Ecumenism and the works of EDAPI in Nigeria. Rev. Dr. O.O. Testimony Onifade who led the Seminar encouraged the ministers to value unity among brethren and promote peace in the church and society. He explained that the unity of the church all over the world is Jesus’ concern as he prayed in John 17:21.
Rev Dr Onifade highlighted the benefits of unity and encouraged Pastors to find means of reconciliation wherever there may be difference. He emphasised the need for pastors across denominations to meet together under the umbrella of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Christian Council of Nigeria and other Ecumenical bodies from the local to international levels. According to him, working together with other Christians will help to overcome challenges that a church cannot combat alone. Because Jesus is not divided, the church’s unity is non-negotiable.
He added that churches should touch their communities, especially starting with helping the communities and engaging community leaders. Dr Onifade explained the agenda of the Nigerian Baptist Convention’s registered non-governmental organisation – EDAPI (Ecumenism for Development and Peace Initiative) and how church leaders can engage the organisation for advocacy and humanitarian aid work.
The Pastors’ fellowship chairman and the Conference President appreciated the presence of EDAPI team led by Rev Dr O.O. Testimony Onifade, hoping that the engagement will continue at the Association and church levels.
